The Monday Moan

Hi all , firstly let me say, forgive me as I havent blogged for some while now , things on my side has been rather hectic , As some of you know , i have joined Ster Kinekor , my "happy place "

Secondly, I would like to wish all my readers a healthy 2012 . I really hope that this year is gonna be the' year . On the chinese calender , its the YEAR OF THE DRAGON , The Dragon is the fifth sign in the Chinese Horoscope and signifies luck .

Ok , time to get on my soap box ,at the risk of sounding controversial , i need to make comment / exercise my right of opinion on a certain Julias Malema.
17 years ago the apartheid regime' as we all know was abolished , and we became the rainbow nation .
Unfortunatly , there are still negative elements like JM , who is insistent in trying to distill hatered between black and white . His hero is Bob Magabe , who in my opionion needs to die a slow and very painfull death . He is well known for hating white folk , as does JM . He really needs to think before he opens his mouth , his latest "pearler "is that he wants to see white domestic workers. I mean ok , get real JM , although the concept is not ludicrous , practically , it just wont work , in my opinion anyway , as the black population is far greater than the white , simply put , our "darkies "can out fuck any nation , with the exception to the chinese , in the world . However , the chinese realize this and still to this day , have a law restricting 1 child per family , a law which I think we should impliment here in SA .

Stats show that in this country , there are 4.5 million whites and 40.2 million blacks in this country , the balance of the 50.2 million is made up of coloureds and asians . So please Julius tell me , how is 4.5 million whites gonna serve 40.2 million blacks ????
However , i would agree if the numbers were equal , say, 5 million white south africans to 5 million black south africans , note I say South African , we need to send home all the zimbabweans , malawians , etheopians etc etc .
I dont know how many of you have been down Bree & Jeppe streets lately , but each city block is over run with the different african cultures , now imagine if we sent all those refugees home to their own countries ? The minority wouldnt be feeding the masses , as we are now in terms of taxes etc , have you heard the latest SARS advert ? it says thank you South Africa , as 2.5 million of you have filled out your tax returns. In total , there are 7 million registered tax payers ( 14 % of the population ) imagine of every person paid tax in this country , we would be in the land of milk and honey.

So , in a nut shell Julius , i think you REALLY need to re-think your stratergy , and as for land reform , the nationalization of mines , this is NOT Zimbabwe , and your NOT Bob !!!
As for your appeal , you can kiss your political career good bye , as JZ is not gonna let you back in . Your time has come to say good bye , as for your comments on etv news with Debra Patter , your certainly NOT our future !!

End of Speech !!

Ok back to the movies , i tell you working for SKT certainly has its advantages , ive seen a few good movies of late , The new Nicholas Cage movie " Seeking Justice"

on the polar scale , the movie scores a 7 out of 10 . Other movies ive seen recently , is Real Steel , scored 7 out of 10 , the muppet movie , and unless your 4 yrs old or brain dead , then dont go and see this , on the polar scale it scored 1 / 10. In terms of 3D , we went to see Puss in boots , not too bad , a 5/10 ... i was always waiting for Shrek to make his entrance , but sadly he never did  :-(

Anyway thats my Monday Moan , till next time

Adios ...............

Mo Monday

So here we are again , Monday ....... Mo Monday , and iam now a week behind , as I had to shave yesterday , why you ask , well , a staff member of mine got married yesterday  (and thats a story all on its own ) , and the "significant other" threatened me with my life if i didnt shave. Admittedly , it was getting to that annoying stage , so there was no argument from me .

Did you know that 25% of women between the ages of 15 - 45 have moustaches. ?  In rare circumstances, women may choose to embrace this growth, often in the form of thin moustaches. Mexican artist Frida Kahlo famously depicted herself in her artwork with both a moustache and a unibrow .
LOL , imagine that , you wake up in the morning to find that your wife has a better moustache than you ! I think I would run a mile !
So cmon all you "Mo sisters" lets get that " tache" growing and lets raise funds for mens Prostrate cancer !
Ok Ladies ,so , if you dont wanna participate in the " Mo thang" ... then how about growing  hair in other places hmmmm ??  .... cmon all you "Brazilians " and I know theres a lot of you out there ...... get growing , there are sooo many different styles .

So Sunday , its Heathers wedding , a completely different wedding , themed as "Carnival " so lots of candy , and bright colors . The venue was "Oakfield Farm " ... scenic , and peaceful , The food was good , however , our waitress was ... well .. lets just say "the lift didnt reach the top floor." I say this because , I have to relate to you all a very comical yet honest episode that transpired yesterday .
We ordered a bottle of wine from the menu , It was a "Boschendal 1685 Chardonnay " The year was 2010 .... very important , So i asked her to bring me a bottle , " a chilled bottle of 1685 please " ... anyway after a long while , she comes back with a completely different bottle of wine . I said to her , "but this isnt what I ordered .... !" She says to me "EISH we dont have 1685 , we only have the 2010 bottle ...." True story , so ok ... we eventually got the 1685 2010 .. much to her confusion . One would think that the waitresses would know the differance between year and brand, but funny none the less .

On the movie front , watched a goodie on friday night , another sci fi ......                 "The Adjustment Bureau "

Starring Matt Damon as David Norris , and no NOT Chuck Norrises brother , but a New York congressman who is running for the US Senate, which he lost , however , whilst rehearsing his concession speech in a hotel bathroom , he meets a woman , "Elise Sellas " portrayed by Emily Hunt "
The plot is basically about "Freewill  vs  Fate" .......... and well you will just have to watch the movie to find out who wins ....... on the polar scale , i give it a cool 7 / 10 . but then again I love sci fi movies .

Thats a wrap for yet another week , The Ster Kinekor countdown has begun .... so soon I will be blogging you from who knows where .... Cape Town , Durban ... even Hollywood ! Anyway , till next time ....

Wednesday Winge

I feel so violated !!!!! The christmas shoppers are out in force, so be vigilant . Can you believe how brazen these fcukers are ? Saterday night , basking in the glory after the Lions victory, celebrating with the usual poison ..... vodka , but come 23h30 , i was tired and off to bed i went . The intruders didnt bargain me taking a shower , etc , as i took longer than they expected , i had just climbed into bed ... A LOUD bang echoed through the night , and I knew .... we were under attack ! There was 2 of them , armed with a spade , in my dining room ...... STUPID BASTARDS !! , came to a gun fight with a spade ... imagine their suprize when i popped out with a rather large pump action shotgun .... 6 rounds of SSG ready to go  !  To cut a long story short , it was a very trumatic event , second time in 2 years . We are all safe , but the shear audacity of it ... I have to say tho , A big bouquet for SAPS , their prompt response and good service was much appreciated .
So now it comes down to the expense of making ones home into a prison, not cool , but nessassary I guess .

Ok so enough of doom and gloom ........... I thought id try something new , explore the art of ....... KISSING

When two people embrace, hormones are released into the blood stream which immediately induces a sense of euphoria when you feed on the sweetness of your mouth.
let me stress that kissing does not merely involve the lips! A real kiss makes use of the tongue, that sensuous organ you can use to delightfully explore the inner reaches of her mouth.
This will be explained in further detail in out section on French Kissing. Let me stress yet again ,  that there is nothing wrong or sinful with kissing. It is completely natural and is a logical progression in any relationship.

Why do we like to Kiss

People kiss because they are trying to satisfy a hunger within them, a hunger that is as natural as the need for food & love,It is the hunger for passion and the need to touch someone else, to wrap your arms around the one you love that drives two lovers to each other. This craving for human contact is instinctive. It comes naturally and cannot be taught.

Here some tips on french kissing ........

Make sure your lips aren't dry - moistening them (but not too much) makes it easier for your lips to slide over your partner's. Use colorless, stick lip balm for best results. Squeezable balm will work too but use in moderation.

  • When French Kissing. Don't dive straight for the tonsils.....lol ,  Play with their tongue - caress, fondle, wrestle with it. Think of it as trying to massage the other's tongue. NEVER bite; unless she askes of course !

  • Let your partner take the lead sometimes and get used to his or her style. Give each other chances to lead and you may find a different way you like to kiss.

  • Close your eyes just before your lips touch. Some people enjoy looking into their partner's eyes when kissing, but for most, it's a huge creepy turn off. Keep them closed and you will enjoy it more. Think about how blind people sense so much more than sighted people, the same principle applies. You will get a more rushing sensation from the touch and feel of a kiss if your eyes are relaxed and closed.

  • Use your hands! Don't let your arms awkwardly hang there. Guys, your hands should be around her back, waist, or on the sides of her face...... or even below the waist ! . Girls, your hands can be in a NUMBER of places, including: around his neck, on the sides of HIS face, on his stomach, on his hips, or a guy's favorite, on his biceps. Also don't be afraid to run your finger's through yuor partner's hair, just make sure your hair is clean just in case it happens to YOU!

  • Let them know what they are doing is good. Softly moan, sigh, or kiss back harder if what they are doing is pleasurable. Girls, if you are holding their arms/biceps, give a little squeeze plus a moan to drive them nuts.

  • Use your tongue in the way you want your partner to use his/hers - both of you will naturally do the same.

  • If you're smaller than the partner you're going to kiss, then hold your head a little back and stand on your tiptoes if comfortable. If you are a girl and you are shorter, as it is in most cases, wrap your arms around his neck and he will naturally wrap his around your waist and lift you up.

  • If you're taller than the partner you're going to kiss, bend your head a little down and keep your legs a little wide apart for the other person to stand.

  • If you're a bit intimidated by french kissing , don't be! It sounds scary only because it is not as easy as a regular kiss, but just do it in small steps. First, start kissing like a normal kiss, then slowly open your mouth and touch your partner's tongue softly with yours. They will get the hint and go from there!

  • Relax! As long as your are comfortable and at ease, your kiss will be pleasurable for both you and your partner. Just empty your mind of everything except the moment at hand and you will master the art of kissing.

  • On the movie front .... to be honest , ive seen nothing worthwriting about , but watch this space , i will review a movie soon .

So , get back to your partner and lets revive the good olde kiss shall we ... so till next time , have an awesome kissing week 1

    Manic Monday

"Its just another Manic Monday "......ok its not , but when I started this blog it was .... sigh distractions like work can be tiresome ............ anyway ..... ,  I wonder how many of you remember that song , released 25 years ago in  1986 by the Bangles , I was just 22 years of age, serving time in the national defense force , it was like our monday national anthem , up early 04h30 , make you bed , complete the 3 "S"'s ... Shit , Shave and Shower , get dressed and by your bed ready for inspection 06h00, and who  knew what the day ... the week would bring .

Well 25 years on , and not much has changed ... ok I certainly don't get up at 04h30 , and I definatly dont stand by my bed ready for inspection at 06h00, however , being married for 17 years , it certainly feels like iam serving some sort of sentance , lol  i mean , had i been a convicted axe murderer , after 17 years , I would be eligable for parole by now ... A free man ! , but no its not all that bad , but the manic monday thing , today especially is very Manic , all will be revealed tomorrow ...... I promise !

What a sporting weekend we had , Rugby , Wales was unlucky to go do wn to the French , and of course , New Zealand didnt look like choking this time round ,  Sebastian takes the championship , & Australia feels like we did, having lost the Rugby as well as the T20 against our Proteas .

It's now Wednesday , a week later and iam still trying to finish my blog lol , such a lot has happened since then, New Zealand scraped past France, Proteas thrashed the aussies in the odi in east london , I signed with Ster Kinekor .......... THE BIG REVEAL , and now , we're in the middle of a heat wave .
Recently , I was up in Limpopo, the polar thermometer was no longer polar , more like "hells kitchen" , as the mecury showed a wopping 41 degs , now for polar bears this is not cool at all ! beside having torn my ligaments in my knee whilst playing rugby with the boys ...  my lovely white coat was now "strawberry blonde " .... a natural colour many women would die for lol , hence me staying away from all forms of fur traders ... if you know what I mean  .

On the movie front , nothing much is up , although I did watch the Smurfs with my children, those of you that are my age , or there abouts will remember the Smurfs in the 1980's, One could purchase a little blue figerine for around R2.00 , and even then that was a lot , well try buy one today ... R199.99 ..... for the same thing , i know its inflation but  WOW ........ !!!!

Anyway on my polar-scale i rate the Smurf movie entertaining , so its my vote and a 7 out of 10 ...

In closing, i need some opinions ... , Ive thought about talking about some "riskay" topics , like for instance The Brazilian " .... lady's shaving amongst other topics , however , i fear i might offend some of my readers .... so let me know ok ?

so from me once again ........ stay cool

    Double Whammy

Well , we were just recovering from the beating we got from Australia and Bryce Lawrance , which incedently , iam absolutly devestated about , anyway ,   along comes the T20 series between SA & the Aussies, and can you believe it !!! We lost that one too .... my interest in SA cricket , I have to admit is weaning rapidly , what with a new captain , who desperatly needs a shave , and a rather chubby looking , rusty Graham Smith ....... and where is Jaques & Abie I ask myself ? If last nights performance is anything to go by for the up coming season , its gonna be along one , if one looks at the schedule its all cricket from now until September 2012 . All I can say is , Good Luck Boys !!

Anyway , moving on , I thought it might be nice to share some of my land and sea scapes with everybody . Comments and or crits are most welcome .

A couple of nights ago , i sat up and watched a movie on DSTV ,  This true life hard hitting drama shook me a little ,but had me absolutly glued to the box  its called "LIVE ! "

    The Plot
Television executive Katy (Eva Mendes) develops what she hopes will become the most watched television show of all time, the ultimate game show called Live! where six contestants play Russian roulette with a revolver  During the show, after the cylinder is randomly turned, the six will fire the gun one by one pointed at their head, without intermediate extra turning of the cylinder, until one is killed. Thus this will happen anyway. At first the idea is to go give all six contestants $1,000,000 each, but, while there are more applicants at the auditions than expected, they are suicidal people. This is not desired, the contestants should want to live; therefore the prize is raised to $5,000,000 each for the surviving contestants, while the family of the killed contestant does not get any prize. Also contestants who do not have to pull the trigger because one is killed before it has been their turn get the prize.
The documentary filmmaker becomes involved in the making of the show by creating biographical segments about the contestants, who are Byron (Rob Brown), a young, struggling writer; Brad (Eric Lively), extreme sports star; Rick (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a man who had to spend much on medical bills for his young son and is now trying to save his family's farm; Jewel (Katie Cassidy), an aspiring actress; Abalone (Monet Mazur), a former super model turned performance artist; and Pablo (Jay Hernandez), a young gay Mexican immigrant determined to help his family .
Jewel is first, Pablo next, both are unharmed. Next is Abalone; before pulling the trigger with the gun pointed at herself she does a performance in which she frightens others by pointing the gun at them; she is also unharmed, but plays falling dead. The fourth is Byron, also unharmed. Brad is fifth and kills himself. Katy is shocked and feels guilty, and goes to the bathroom to throw up. The body is quickly removed off-camera. Rick, who would be sixth wins the prize without having to pull the trigger. After that, during the after-show press gang, a man comes forward with another gun and kills Katy. The network claims the murder is unrelated to the theme of the show. Apart from the murder the show is a success. It has become an annual broadcast.

Anyway , the week end is nigh and the RWC contiues . My closing prediction is , is that Wales will be contesting the Final with New Zealand , the out come of that is left for another blog , so with that my friends i bid you all

    Monday Mourning

Well , it was a disastrous weekend , sports wise , All my teams lost . The mighty Boks succumed to the wallabies, thanks to Bryce Lawrence, The Bulls went down to Griquas , Wales beat Ireland .... and The Frogs beat the Poms , and to top it , The Royal Challangers Bangalore lost by 31 runs to the Mumbai indians in the champions league T20.  .... at least Sebastian took the world champoinship for the second time , which goes down in the history books as being the youngest double world champion ever , just goes to prove , Red Bull DOES have wings !

Whilst on sport, Iam sure most of you know old Darren Scott has been axed for using the "K" word  ( naughty naughty ) ....... but how many of you know that Peter Davies has been a very naughty boy too , as has Crystal Arnold  ( ok yes a naughty girl ) .. posing topless for playboy ..  , I mean , what is with these sports anchors ??........ they should write a book , titled " How to screw up a good career in one easy move "....... wont be a long book though .

Theres so much to talk about ..... in the music world , Dave beat Mark in Idols ...although , either one of them could have won it , I think it was the most professional show since its inception .
Did anyone watch "X-Factor" last night ? what a lot of "shite" . If they not crying on stage then they're arguing with the judges ..... WTF ?? and as for Paula Abdul , wow she's lost a lot of weight, she looks ill !

On the personal front , a new venture is looming on the horizon for me , cant say much about it just yet , but it will definitely be a life changing occurance , watch this space !

Ive seen a few movies of late ... my "epic fail " of the week, has to be the Mnet movie last night ... and expensive cast , what with the likes of Sylvester Stallone , Jason Statham, Mickey Rouke , Bruce Willis ..... and the list goes on ...with a cast like that , one would have thought that one was in for a treat , what movie am i talking about ??

    yip , u guessed it .... The Expendables "
on my polar scale , i score it a 4 out of 10

My movie of the week goes to ... A true story , set in World War 2 , Siberia  A good cast , including Ed Harris as "Mr Smith & Colin Farrell as "Valka"

In 1941, three men reach India from Tibet, having walked 4000 miles after escaping a Siberian gulag. The film tells their story and that of four others who escaped with them and a teenage girl who joins them in flight. The group's natural leader is Janusz, a Pole condemned by accusations secured by torturing his wife; he knows how to live in the wilds. They escape under cover of a snowstorm: a cynical American, a Russian thug, a comic accountant, a pastry chef who draws, a priest, and a Pole with night blindness. They face freezing nights, lack of food and water, mosquitoes, an endless desert, the Himalayas, and moral questions of when to leave someone behind.

In closing , I would just like to add my 5 cents worth on the Dalai lama saga . I mean WTF , is our government up to ??? The Dalai is proberly one of the most respected spiritual leaders in the world . Pre 1994 , South Africa really needed him , and welcomed him with open arms , now 17 years into "democracy " ... our "esteemed " government has turned their back on him ... so this begs the question , Our boys in green had 70 % ball possession , 70 % field advantage ... we attacked from every angle , played outstanding rugby , but yet we lost ... is it "Dalai Karma" ???

I leave you with that thought !

forgive me for i have not blogged

Well iam back ....... yes its been a while , my last blog was when poor kitcat passed . We are all doing fine but we miss her terribly .
So , where have I been you may well ask , well ....... honestly , , right here ! however , my creative writing juices completly dried up , talk about "writers block "!!! I have several topics in mind... the rugby world cup for instance  ... The malema trials .... How the summer switch was just flicked on, we skipped spring ... how about taxi drivers .... nope , I wanna talk about one of the big 3, one of the most stressfull things that people might have to endure , oh btw , the other 2 are , Moving home , and switching jobs , yes iam talking about divorce !!

One of my female staff members approached me some 3 weeks ago, She said , "Thats it , iam divorcing him "   She had made up her mind , and they say  ... ( dunno who THEY are tho ) that once a woman has made up her mind , then thats it . Now I know her husband of a mere 2 years is a abusive controlling man , a bully .... and he has been emotionally draining her in this period , we see it everyday at work .

As a good Boss should , i closed my door and consoled her , and gave her some of my advice along with a telephone number of a good divorce lawyer , I advised her to make an appointment and explore her options. She was ready to tackle this . The following day , she was absent from work ... she called in "sick " due to all the stress , where 1 day grew to 5 days off work ... I was sympathetic , and I continued to support , thinking that she had followed through with the appointment at the lawyers office etc etc .
Imagine my surprize , when she walked in the following monday morning full of the joys of spring , saying all is well at home , he has changed .... no more abuse , no more bullying etc ... M y immediate reaction of course was "A leopard doesnt change its spots" ... I mentioned this ... and suddenly , Iam the enemy , so I backed off . ....

My words were hardly cold ... not even a week later , the abuse started again . This week , she approached me again ... same story ... needs time off to meet with her lawyer . Again , I fall for it , and time is given ... Now bear in mind , I run a successful practice here , with a total project base of around R150 million at the moment , so we are busy , and she is my P.A. Her work is backing up by now, and try and ask one of my designers to type minutes........ Ha , it would be easier for me to fall pregnant!!

Its Friday today .... and STILL no P.A. My question is this .... where do I draw the line here? in terms of support etc , as it turns out , all is quiet again " on the western front " and she is back with him , but who knows Monday could be different again .
Ias it me , being taken for a fool ... ? or , is she so genuinly naive, that she truly believes this man , at the age of 36 will in fact change ? What is it with some women , that cannot leave a abusive relationship ? ....... I fail to understand , ok well I guess I shouldnt genralize , as men can be the same , abused by their spouses , but also , cannot see the light . Is it insecurity? , is it the relization that one has failed in some thing as simple as love and marrige ? ... ok ! , love isnt simple , true enough ... but I think , love is what you make it ... it can be exciting , passionate , beautiful ..... but it can also be manipulating , vicious , consuming ... and of course jealosy is a killer . My point of  all of this is ,is that life is too short to NOT ENJOY LIFE !!

Recently , I was sent a BBM which was priceless , which I need to share with you all ... I quote :

    Dear God ,

Freddy Mercury was my favorite vocalist .... and now he's dead !
Ayrton Senna was my favorite F1 driver .......and now he's dead !
Micheal Jackson was my favorite pop star.....and now he's dead !
Heath Ledger was my favorite actor ............and now he's dead !

Oh God , Julius Malema is my favorite politician ....... Iam just putting it out there !!

Talking about Malema , otherwise known as "kiddie amin" ...... I am so please that eventually justice is beginning to prevail ... and JZ is starting to see the light . We live in a wonderful beautiful country , a 1st world country with 3rd world problems ... If we can just weed out the badd apples in the cart , we will be okay .

On the movie front , iam introducing another catagory ... my epic fail of the week , which goes too ... ( drum roll )..........

    "Battle Los Angeles" .........

A weak , predictable plot which didnt hold my attention at all ......

My Movie of the week has to go to ..................

    127 hours ..............

Director Danny Boyle has created some of the most intense and memorable films in history. Trainspotting, The Beach, Sunshine and Slumdog Millionaire – not too many directors can lay down a list as impressive as that. And 127 hours definitely seems to be heading in the same direction as the previous successes. Detailing the incredible story of a hiker’s survival, courtesy of James Franco in the lead, 127 Hours looks incredible and while the story is eerily intense due to the real life conclusion, Boyle might be up for further Oscar recognition with this gem.

In closing , all I can say is .............

    GO BOKKE !!!!!!

    & of course  .....

    till next time

    Good Bye Kitcat

One can never describe the pain when one loses a treasured pet, well I have lost 2 in my life , 2 wonderful animals that brought love , joy , happiness and true loyalty . My Fist to go was my black Labrador .... Bonny , she died 4th September 2009 , a wonderful companion , and she followed me everywhere ... i got her when she was just 8 weeks old in 1995. In those days i was a runner. I used to run for Florida running club ... club colors pink and black .. we were well known back then as she used to run the 10 kms night races with me . Good Times ....
Sadly , on the 10th Aug 2011, 20h15 , there was a ring on my door bell ... i looked thru the window and I didnt recognize the vehicle parked in my driveway ... I went to investigate . The young man on the otherside of my gate looked at me in despair as I approched ... dressed in nothing but a vest and tracksuit pants, which , i might add can be quite a scary site, if you dont know me .
I approached ......... he asked " Do you own a mottled brown cat? "  My worst fear hit me as I replied "yes.... why " ... "Well I think ive just hit your cat with my car" ..... he replied .. With that , the cold clunk , of the electical mechanical gate lock opened ...... seconds later ......... my wife and distraught children came running out crying ... "KITCAT KITCAT " .......... With my heart in my mouth I asked this poor chap to show me the evidence .... before I could contain my children and my wife , they rushed to the scene ... only to find a very limp kitcat on our grassed pavement . Shrieks of pain rang out into the cold and quiet night . Completly oblivious now that the poor driver was standing amongst us , I grabbed my wife and children and went into a 4 person huddle over our poor Kitcat .... I tried to explain to my devestated family .... that ... well she had a good life with us and she has taught us a lot ... she had her kittens on My daughters bed ... in front of us all .. she allowed us to witness the wonders of nature take its course as she brought  4 wonderfull kittens into the world . She taught us love and patience ... you see we were always doggy people until little Kitcat came into our lives just some 18 months ago . ....... and now she's gone , as quick and silently as she arrived ... you know , they say , cats choose you and its not you who chooses the cat ... well this was certaily the case with OUR KITCAT ...

Rest in Peace Kitcat ..... you are missed daily , and we love you  xxxxxxx

    Office Gossip

Wow how this year is flying .......... So its true what "they " say , Time flies when your having fun . August , the windy month is around the corner, which will bring the rains and summer , ive so had enough of this winter , which feels longer than usual . Anyway , back to my title ... and the purpose of this blog ... Office gossip  .....

I have been an Architect for 21 years and have mainly worked for small private practises . I have been in my current position , for the best part of 5 years now , and for the first time in my entire career , ive been the victim of "Office Gossip" ........ from my staff nogal ... !! Iam writing this as , its actually got to me ........ I mean wow , the very staff I employ  , fight for within our large organisation , has turned against me , and spreading rather malicious untruths about me ! Oh, what to do  ?? Oh and the reason I know is , is because Iam lucky enough to have an assistant , who remains faithful to me. This as a whole makes things difficult as she is my eyes and ears whilst iam away ... you know the saying ... When the cats away ... I dont know how many of you have worked in a Architectural office , but things can get a little tense sometimes , dead lines etc  ... and heres why .... Take 9 different personalities / creeds / religions and beliefs , add the emotions of the talented "arty type person " and viola , what do u get ...... well firstly , some amazing stuff being churned out in terms of design etc ... but also a cauldron of gossip , bitchyness and of course some well orchastrated shenanigans. Anyway .... after a long chat with the culprits .... issue resolved. Iam rapidly hitting burn out here , so this upcoming long weekend could come quick enough . I am off to Kwa Zulu Natal , to go and dive with Ragged tooth sharks... cant wait , 5 days of pure bliss . I will let you all know ... with pics upon my return .

On the movie side, in my last blog , i intimated that i would "Review" the latest Arthur movie . Well, if like me , you've seen the original Arthur with Dudley Moore and his butler , the late John Gielgud.
You will be very dissapointed with the latest Arthur played by Russell Brand , whom , by the way I dont rate as an actor. The movie has a very thin , watery plot about Arthur loseing his inheritance if he doesnt marry his mothers choice of women . I laboured through the movie in the hope that SOMETHING of interest would happen , sadly not ! So in short , that movie got a 2 / 10 on the "polarscale"
I have however watched a few other movies ... Beastley , Source Code and Hanna , but my movie of the week has to be RED . Starring Bruce Willis , Morgan Freeman , Helen Mirren and John Malkovich , who adds a certain amount of humour to a easy to  watch thriller . A must see if you a Bruce Willis fan ....... on the "polarscale " it scores a 7/10 ...

World cup Rugby is almost upon us , and of course Tri-Nations kicked off last weekend with a massive loss from our boys in the green and gold to the wallabies , who I might add are looking quite threatning.

The All Blacks , although trouncing Fuji last weekend , didnt quite look as convincing , as they should have run a few more tries past the islanders. This weekend , i have gone with my head as opposed to my heart apropos the All Black vs Bok game ...... my superbru points are looking a little miserable .
In our local derby , the currie cup , iam looking a little better on te superbru side of things , but the season has just started .......

well , thats it from me for another week , so wrap up warmly and stay safe !!!

    Smash ,Grab & Hijackings

Yesterday  ( 05 jul 11 ), I had a bad day. It wasnt the cold ... cos i like the cold and wet conditions , it was , yip , you guessed it ... a "Smash , Grab and attempted hijacking " in Bree street JHB , CBD.  There I was sitting in my bakkie , the rain had started , so i put on the window wipers , something told me to look left ........ I saw him coming , BANG !!! There goes my window and he was in ..... with my foot still on the clutch , and the other on the brake , i still managed to fight him ...... i was totally lucid. i wrestled with him , he flapped about like a fishout of water , and eventually broke free , he dropped everything , with exception of my beloved Blackberry ...... Think about this , as now , ive thought about it ... How much of your life is on your blackberry ? I know theres info on my phone , like my home address for instance , so my wife has been living in fear ever since , not cool . I did block my sim and phone immediatly , so hopefully the device rendered useless.
One should'nt take an incident like this lighty , as it does play on ones mind , especially when driving down Bree street , which I do on a daily basis. So off i went , to Glasfit , and had the anti smash and grab film fitted to my bakkie, and I have to say , the Glasfit team on Beyers Naude were nothing short of excellent. Their service was perfect in every way , so big Thank you to Robbie and his team . Another BIG thank you goes to a very special friend , you know who you are , you are the Torch in my darkness !!

Ok , enough doom and gloom,

On the box this weekend , yet another plethora of sport .... rugby finals , grand prix , tour de france ....

Movie of the week ........ its an oldie , but a real beaut . I just love Sandra Bullock , in this movie especially . Ryan Renolds is such a lucky bloke lol ..... and the scene in the bedroom , where he jumps into bed beside her , before his folks bring breakfast is just hilarious ... "Morning Glory " ........ no , thats not the title , Its of course , yip you guessed it ...". The Proposal "

And that my friends is that for another week , can you believe its almost mid July ?? before we know it , it will be christmas again ..... looking forward to a well deserved rest ..... but thats is another story alltogether.
oh btw , next week i will be reviewing Arthur ....... I remember watching the original with Dudley Moore some 25 years ago , so should be interesting

so from me .................................... ADIOS AMIGOS

    Writers Block

Although I have an interest for writing , hence my blogs , its certainly not something to sneeze at . And when writers block sets in ... well , the blank page just becomes an abyss of nothingness...... so , here goes nothing.

Some of you may have noticed , Iam a Polar bear chum , I love those creatures , hence my nickname ... "Bear" It all originated some 23 years ago , whilst doing my national service , in those days I had a thick white mop of hair , and always wore a short sleeve shirt, and so my trusted troops named my KPL Ys beer , and well the name has kinda stuck , but the english version shortned to "just Bear".

Beacause of my "writers Block " , I thought id write about something I know all to well .... and thats the whole rejuvination of JHB cbd . I have been involved now for 5 years, and let me tell you , working in the heart of jozi has its moments. I have witness some bizaar things from the slaughtering of a cow on the pavement , wheel barrows full of cows and sheeps heads ( smileys ) .... to the toy toying of the masses complaing about something or other. My office is 16 floors up , and trust me sound travels , most days the sounds of gun shot fire rings out... one would think iam in mogadisho , anyway , fatalaties are an everyday occurance here , along with the mob justice suystem we have in the city , its "fun" Its not all doom and gloom , my function really , is to design and build famlies respectable homes. Take 120 End street for instance .....

Its the biggest comercial / residential conversion in the world , a total of 48000 sqm bulk, which interpretes to 924 residential units over 26 floors. that in turn , houses 924 families , multiply by 3 and voila , 2772 people living comfortably . As a result , iam now busy developing the ground floor , with 10 000 sqm of retail , including shoprite as an anchor tenant ... , and 54 line shops , ok its not gonna be Sandton City , but I pride myself in giving the public some serious retail therapy when they enter 120 End street shopping centre. Across the road to the west of the building we have just revamped and finished the park for the kids . On the other end of town , west side , iam busy with yet another shopping centre , where we will house Cambridge , as the anchor tenant , and for those of you that dont know the brand , it forms part of the "Wallmart" stable. Other than that , I have another 5 other buildings iam converting to residential , including a Heritage building , built in 1896 , guessed which one yet ... and no Christo , you dont count lol.

yip its Stuttafords , we are aiming in completely retoring the building to bring it back to its iconic self .

Ok from Architecture to movies ......... Iam typing against the clock here , so sweet and simple , my movie of the week is .... ( drum roll )
DRIVE ANGRY .......... Nicolas Cage , brilliant , if you like semi sci fi with plenty action , be sure to catch this on
    And with that its

    47 and counting

18th June marked the day I turned 47.... and let me tell you , although i dont feel 47 , getting old is not for sissys. All of a sudden things start to change metabolically as well as physically.

Metabolically speaking , things just arent the same, especially after the age of 40. I find now that losing the additional 5 kgs that one may have is difficult , so , I thought id offer some tips which work for me ...... but understand , iam no Guru and am certainly not a trained medical practitioner ( my disclaimer lol )
    1. Understand what metabolism is. In the simplest terms!, metabolic rate is the rate at which your body burns calories. Very few people have a fast metabolism, and overweight individuals generally have slow metabolisms.
    2. Determine what is influencing your metabolism. There are some factors that you can control and change, and some factors that you can't.
      • Age - Metabolic rate decreases 5% each decade, after the age of 40.
      • Gender - Men generally burn calories more quickly than women because they have more muscle tissue.
      • Heredity - You can inherit your metabolic rate from previous generations.[
      • Thyroid disorder  (underactive thyroid gland) and  (overactive thyroid gland) can slow down or speed up metabolism, but only 3% and .3% of the population have hypo- and hyperthyroidism respectively.
    3. Eat small, frequent meals. Extending the time between meals makes your body go into "starvation mode," which decreases your metabolism as a means to conserve energy and prevent starvation. Skipping meals does not help you cut calories or lose weight; in fact, people generally eat less overall when they eat small, frequent meals. In addition to having four to six small meals per dayeating healthy snacks will also increase metabolism.
    4. Drink iced water. As with food, depriving your body of water can encourage it to "hoard" rather than "burn". When your drink ice cold water, your body burns calories warming it to body temperature. More than ninety percent of the chemical reactions in your body occur in water, so make sure you drink the right amount of water daily.
    5. Excercise , Is of course a must , cardio-vascular raises the heart rate , which in turn burns calories , on the other hand weight training is good too as weight build muscle , and muscle burns calories , in simple terms ,  Every muscle cell that you gain is like a little factory that constantly burns calories for you
Ok enough of the healthy stuff ! its Wimbledon time again!!!!

One of my favorite tournaments. Rushing home from work , on with the Telly , crack open a bottle of red wine ...... absolute bliss , Iam fortunate enough to have a T.V. in my kitchen , so the family dont go hungry during these 2 weeks , as unlike most males , I can multi task .... cook , drink , and watch Wimboldon. Rafa is on brilliant form , as is my man Roger ( Did you know his mother is South African , maiden name "Du Randt") Anyway on the ladies side the Williams sisters are batteling along , whilst the Russians continue to dominate .

On to the super rugby, i was so on track to win the superbru yellow cap this last week , then my boys in blue sadly lost , and crashed out of the top 6 , losing by just 3 points to a well deserved sharks victory. However , sadly , i cant see the Natal boys beating the formidable Crusaders in their own back yard! Stormers and Reds on a by this weekend , so not much in terms of Rugby , however , its another F1 weekend being the European Grand Prix , held in Valentia, Spain. A fast street circuit , with precious little overtaking opportunities , but has an estimated top speed of 323 kph. I suspect Red bull will yet again dominate.

Anyone heard of a "POKEN" ? Interesting device , basically a electronic busines card , so no more carrying bits of card board in ones wallet anymore ....
Google it .... they have just been launched in RSA. And when you get one , we can exchange details , quite neat .!!

on to my movie of the week ........ Are there any Jason Stathams fans out there ? If you liked the "Transporter " trilogy , your gonna love The Mechanic .

Its fast , its furious and its sexy ........... well thats of course if you like the totally gorgeous Mini Aden.....

Well thats a wrap , watch out for the approaching cold front , so ,  stay warm and stay safe ....until next time
Thanks for reading my blog . ...

    On my soap box

Well here iam again , on this very chilly thursday morning. Unusual weather for this time of year , our weather pattern in Johannesburg is definatly changing, Summers are getting hotter , and our winters , colder. Some of you may remember 11th September 1981 .... I was in std 9 ... all of 16 yrs old, when johannesburg had its biggest snowfall since 11th June 1968...

how coincedental is that ... the 11th day of the month seems quite significant , take for instance sept 11 2001 twin towers ,  the earthquake and resulting tsunami in Japan, 11 march 2011 and then again on the 11th April  ..... COINCIDENCE ?? who knows ! And as for the weather on tuesday morning , i thought that maybe Harold Camping had got his dates wrong .... Anyway , it will be interesting to see what happens weather wise on 11 june 2011 , just 2 days away .

On the rugby front , my boys in blue are doing awesome ... pity tho that i cant say the same for my performance in superbu ...... from sitting top of the pops , iam now down to 6th place .......... occupying the same space as the bulls on the overall log , only 2 points off my main rivals , the sharks , who incedently , by thier standards are having a dismal season . Hehehehe , i know that last statement is gonna rile some of my friends , will proberly get a brow-bashing on Twitter !

Ok , on my soap box I get .... W.T.F. is wrong with Highveld radio at the moment , it seems like they are off their heads , Late last year , they did a dirty on Brad Brown , A fine upstanding guy , whom ive had the pleasure of meeting on several occasions , and now very recently ( Tuesday this week ) Paul Rotherham gets the pink slip . So now morning radio is kak ! Ive now migrated to Jacaranda ..... which in its self isnt great , but i guess it beats the whinning voice of Darren . And if it wasnt for Alex Jay and Mark Pilgrim , I would "bin " 94.7 permeantly .
    ok , i feel better now !

My book " life love & food " is coming along quite nicely, up to 33 recipes now , and this is when it starts to get difficult , as iam rapidly running out of my original stuff , and there's no way Iam turning to the net ... Mandy "!

On to my movie of the week ........ There are soo many good movies out there , its hard to choose , however , there is one that stands out a mile for me this week , in the form of a series , yes its back and iam so pleased .......In a world of nasty crimes, only one man can ensure that the women of Miami continue to be able to wear bikinis and sunbathe without corpses washing ashore. That man...wears sunglasses ..... The one and only Horatio , in CSI Miami. Series 11 started last night on mnet , 21h30, and on every tuesday . Cant wait  .......

Finally , in my last blog , i mentioned how I wish it would snow ..... well one should always be careful for what you wish for ....... it may just come true !!!

Well thats a wrap , stay warm and stay safe ....until next time
